Echidna or ( Tachyglossus ) is one of the groups of monotremes, monotremes are species of mammals that can lay eggs. Echidna native to Australia and new guinea. The only area they would not be found is in tropical rainforest. This is because ants are not found there.
The temperature of its body is about 31 - 32 degrees celcius. This temperature is lower than other mammals or about 38 degrees celcius. echidna is a warm blooded mammal with a small mouth and its body is covered by creamy brown spines that used to keep itself from enemy. It has a long snout to catch its food and a long sticky tongue to catch food with easily
Male echidna has a claws on the back of his legs, but its claws are not same as platypus’ claws. Its claws aren’t poisonous. The weight of echidna is 2 - 8 kgs. The lenght of its body about 30 - 45 cm. Echidna’s life span is over 45 years.
Echidna like to eat ants and termites. But they may also eat other invertebrates such as worms, larvae and grubs. They have no teeth so they crush their food up.
Echidna is shy and moves slowly. Do you know ? Echidna has less intelligent than a cat. The echidna is common and widelyspread in Australia. Echidna is the favorite food of Aborigin people.
